Project 3: Healthy Standard of Living

Ensure a healthy standard of living for all in Oxfordshire

Why is this important?

A healthy standard of living is a foundation for health and wellbeing. It means everyone in Oxfordshire has the resources to live in safe, secure housing, afford essentials, and access vital services. The Marmot approach recognises that tackling inequalities in income, housing, and access to services is essential to reducing differences in health outcomes across our communities.

What has been achieved so far?

The Cost of Living team at the County Council and in District Councils have used data from the Low-Income Family Tracker to target individual households for uptake of benefits, and to prioritise for preventative support.

housing health needs assessment has also highlighted specific needs for children and older adults requiring care at home, work is now being developed to produce actionable recommendations. The findings were used to inform an approach to monitoring the Counties Health and Wellbeing Strategy. The Better Housing Better Health service continues to support efforts to reduce fuel poverty in communities which experience greater hardship through the commissioning of home visits for those in greater need.

Strategic links with the Oxfordshire Inclusive Economy Partnership are also being developed to improve access to education and employment through a Marmot place approach.
