There are lots of different ways to travel into and around the city for leisure or shopping

If you are coming to Oxford for leisure, pleasure or shopping, there are many ways you can travel to and around Oxford without using a private car. 

Planning your journey

There are many websites to help plan how you can travel around Oxford.

By park and ride

There are five park and ride sites on the outskirts of Oxford. 

You can purchase a joint ticket for parking and bus travel offering parking for 16 hours plus return bus travel

  • £4 for a car with one adult
  • £5 for a car with two adults 
  • up to three children under 16 can travel for free.

By bus or coach

The main bus companies in Oxfordshire are:

MyBus is the new flexible and convenient bus ticket that gives almost unlimited bus travel across Oxfordshire. With access to over 150 services from 12 operators, it’s perfect for exploring or commuting. 

Prices start from £3.50 a day or £14.50 a week for under-19s, and £6.50 a day or £25 a week for adults.

Please note that, depending on the journey you are making, it may be cheaper to buy an alternative ticket product. Passengers are advised to check other options before travelling.

By train

By motorbike or moped

Motorbikes and mopeds are automatically exempt from traffic filters.

By car club

Car clubs are short-term rentals, usually by the hour. Some car clubs can apply for a permit for unlimited travel through the traffic filters. Check with the car club before you book.

By car

Everywhere in Oxford will be accessible by private car, but you may need to take a different route if you do not have a permit.

You can use one of your day passes to drive through a filter if you are an Oxfordshire resident. 

If you are a Blue Badge holder or drive a disabled class vehicle, you can apply for a permit that allows for unlimited travel through the filters.
