Borrow daily living aids from us to help you live safely and independently in your home.

Eligibility criteria for daily living aids

To borrow daily living aids, you must meet all of the following eligibility criteria.

1. Council tax

You must pay your council tax to one of the following local authorities:

  • Cherwell District Council
  • Oxford City Council
  • South Oxfordshire District Council
  • Vale of White Horse District Council
  • West Oxfordshire County Council

2. Living at home

You must be living at home to be able to order living aids from us. If you are in hospital, then you are not eligible and you should speak to the hospital’s occupational therapist about your equipment needs.

3. Long-term health condition

You must have a long-term health condition, such as arthritis or a heart issue. Your condition will be one that has:

  • caused you difficulty for more than six months
  • will cause you difficulty for more than six months

Order your living aids

If you meet the eligibility criteria, we can order your equipment to be delivered and installed, usually within five to seven days. This may change depending on the availability of stock and technicians.

Order daily living aids

Once you no longer need to borrow the items, they can be returned to us.

What happens if I continue to have problems?

If you have concerns about your equipment or your difficulties have not been resolved, then you may need to ask for a needs assessment. This may take place at a local clinic at one of a number of locations across Oxfordshire.

How to return daily living aids

You can contact NRS Healthcare directly if you want to return living aids that you no longer need. They will aim to collect your equipment between five to ten days.

Buy your daily living aids

You can buy your own equipment from private suppliers. Live Well Oxfordshire has a list of different suppliers in the local area.

You have the option to request an assessment from adult social care, who will collaborate with you to determine the specific support you require to help you live the way you want to.
