Before you start your application for an older person's bus pass
You will save yourself time if you have the information and documents you'll need before you start your application.
Applying for another adult
The adult who needs the bus pass is the 'applicant'. When applying for another adult, add their details to the form, not your own. We need their proof of identity and address, evidence, and photo.
You need to have consent from the applicant.
How you can apply
Applying online
If you are applying online, you will need the following:
- Access to an email address - need help setting up an email account?
- Your national insurance number.
- A recent passport-style photo of yourself - you can upload a digital photograph or take one with your webcam during the application (photo guidance).
If you have lived at your current address for less than three years, you may also be asked to send us proof of your address. You will be advised of this during the application.
Applying at a library
You will need to call the Concessionary Fares team on 0345 310 1111 first to start your application. The Concessionary Fares team will then make an appointment for your at your nearest validating library to complete your application.

By phone
If you apply by phone you need to send us a recent photo to complete the application. You may also need to send proof of address if you have lived at your current address for less than three years. We will advise you if this is the case during the application.
