Woodstock
Celebrate what makes our town so special including its former glove trade.
What you can expect
Find examples of the town’s civic and manufacturing history. Did you know that Woodstock’s renowned glove making industry is second only to Worcester? You will also learn about the manufacture of polished cut steel, for which the town had a reputation that spread across Europe in the 18th century.
It is not surprising that Woodstock Park and Blenheim Palace form part of this gallery. The town’s economy continues to benefit from their input, although now through tourism.
There are many items on display. Everything from a Saxon spearhead, civic paraphernalia and a pewter tankard. There are the tools and products of glove making, and of course that all important steel working. Some of the objects have an interactive display to help you explore more about the period.
