Makerspace volunteer
Planning and delivering digital and non-digital crafting activities to people of all ages
About the role
Makerspace volunteers play a crucial role in supporting our customers to develop their skills in both digital and non-digital making, creating, and learning. Makerspaces are a growing service in libraries to promote STEAM learning, and you will be helping us promote these services with your specialised skills. You will be interested in running activities of all types including 3D printing, coding, origami, sewing, crafts, and more.
What we need from you
Our Makerspace volunteer role requires someone who is patient and willing to commit 1 - 2 hours a session on a regular basis. You may be working 1-1 with customers or supporting the library in group sessions, working with children, or adults at various skill levels, from beginners to experts.
You will need to be over 18 years old to apply. As part of Oxfordshire County Council’s safeguarding policy, a DBS check and two references will be required for this role.
What you can expect from us
We value all our volunteers and our commitment to you is spelled out in our Library Volunteer Charter (pdf format, 92Kb). We will be flexible and supportive and staff will be on hand to help when you are volunteering in our libraries. We will provide training for you before you start the role.
