Pensions news for employers
Keep up to date with developments that affect Oxfordshire Pension Fund employers.
Twice yearly Employer meeting
We hold our Employer User Group twice a year. This is an opportunity for our HR and Payroll practitioners to hear from us on an informal basis about what is going on with the LGPS.
Our Spring User Group took place on 20 March and covered Ill Health Early Retirement procedures in the LGPS (Vimeo video).
If you would like a copy of the slides please Contact Pension Services.
Annual Employer Forum
Once a year, there is the opportunity for scheme employers, members of the pension fund committee and the local pension board to meet, take part in discussions prompted by topical presentations and hear first-hand about the fund's performance.
The last Pension Fund Annual Employer Forum (Vimeo video) took place on 12 February 2025.
If you would like a copy of the slides please Contact Pension Services.

Local Government Pension Scheme Informer
The Scheme Advisory Board (SAB) and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) have published an informer document (pdf format, 3 MB) to explain the timeline and information flow for the triennial valuation and accounting/audit purposes.
The informer document is intended to provide employers with information on:
- how the LGPS works in practice
- key information flows between employing bodies, pension funds and actuaries
- the content and purpose of annual accounting reports and triennial valuations
- key accounting requirements for employing bodies
- the role of external auditors.
The document is aimed at scheme employers and should be shared with the scheme's external auditors. It may also benefit pension fund officers and actuaries.
Any feedback regarding the informer document should be sent to sabsecretariat@local.gov.uk
