Councillor Priority Fund
The fund supports councillor priorities in their local areas.
Each councillor has a budget of £10,000 that they can use to support community projects in their divisions over the course of 2025-2027 financial years. Councillors can decide how to award their funding, including pooling funds with other councillors to support larger-scale projects.
How to apply
All prospective applicants must consult with a councillor before submitting an application. You will need to provide evidence of support from a councillor. Applications without clear evidence of support from councillors will not be accepted.
To apply, you must create an account. By making an account, you can see the status of your grant application. You will also be automatically notified when your application has been sent for payment.
You must complete the form in one go (there is no option to save along the way).
To help with this, we have created an application guide (odt format, 113 KB) to complete the application form. This includes the questions you will be asked in order. You may wish to complete a draft of your application using this guide and copy and paste the answers into the application form when ready to submit.
Application checklist
Along with the details of the project, you will need the following:
- an email address (need help setting up an email account?)
- full bank details (account name, sort code and account number)
- total project costs and breakdown
- document or email showing that you have discussed the matter with each councillor
The deadline for applications is 5pm on 30 November 2026.
Payment of grants
We aim to pay all eligible grant applications within 28 days, this time may be extended if we need to contact grant applications for additional information or if we have queries about your application. All applicants are encouraged to read the guidance document (pdf format, 180Kb) to ensure their project meets the funding criteria.
Monitoring
Successful applicants are expected to comply fully with any monitoring requests from the council and must agree to this when signing the funding request form.
All successful applicants need to be prepared for a review of their project.
This may include:
- Receipts recording how the money was spent
- Reports on the activity funded
- Feedback from individuals impacted
- Any other record of the activity funded (e.g. promotional flyers and posters)
Successful applicants will be strongly encouraged to keep us informed about the progress of their projects. Any setbacks in implementing the projects should be reported to the Policy Team. The delivery of the projects will be monitored based on milestones identified in the business case/ project proposal.
We will recover any unspent grant funding.
