Local guidance and policies
SEN support guidance is written for schools, settings and parents. Explaining how schools identify a child’s educational needs and determine the level of support required. The guidance also sets out how support should be arranged and reviewed.
It defines what schools are expected to provide in line with the funding they receive.
These materials support discussions between parents and teachers. They help ensure that children and young people’s needs are identified accurately. They also help parents and carers understand the support available. This includes the type of support their child may receive.

Guidance for schools on supporting children and young people with literacy difficulties - Oxfordshire’s Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Sufficiency of Places Strategy (pdf format, 984kb)
In December 2018 Cabinet approved the county council’s strategy to deliver sufficient SEND provision. The strategy focuses on the five-year period 2018-2022. But also looks beyond to the following five-year period to 2027. Local authorities have a duty to provide reasonable adjustments for disabled pupils. This strategy identifies reasonable adjustments duty and includes examples of good practice. Use the The Accessibility Strategy Toolkit (pdf format, 425Kb) to help improve accessibility in schools. This toolkit can be used by any school. Learn how the Department for Education Special Provision Fund is used in Oxfordshire. It supports the creation of additional places and improves facilities for pupils with SEND.

Find support groups on the Family Information Service . They support parents and carers of disabled children and young people with SEN or other needs.
