Statement of Reasons

The Goring 10K Road Race is to be held on Sunday 8 March 2026. It is promoted by Milo Middleton, Race Director (For and on behalf of Goring Primary School PTA), Goring Church of England Primary School, Wallingford Road, Goring on Thames, Reading RG8 0BG.

The County Council is satisfied that because of the large number of participants and the nature of the event, it is appropriate for it to be held partly on roads in and around Goring and it is not reasonably practicable for it to be conducted fully off-road.

To facilitate the holding of the event, road closures are necessary for public safety as participants and supporters take up so much road space that danger would otherwise be posed to themselves and other road users.

As the event progresses the numbers become sufficiently reduced to enable runners and traffic to safely use the roads together.
