OXFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL (GORING 10K ROAD RACE) (SPECIAL EVENT) ORDER 2026

WHEREAS the Oxfordshire County Council (“the Council”) is satisfied that vehicular traffic in certain roads in Goring should be temporarily prohibited to facilitate the holding of the Goring 10K Road Race (“the Event”) and the County Council is satisfied that it is appropriate for the event to take place partly on the public highway.

NOW THEREFORE the Council, in exercise of its powers under Section 16A of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, and all other enabling powers make the following Order.

  1. Save as provided by Article 2 of this Order no person shall, when and where appropriate signage is in place, except upon the direction or with the permission of a police constable in uniform or the Council, cause a vehicle to proceed or wait in Grove Road between Icknield Road and the B4009, and in Icknield Road between Elvendon Road and Woodcote Road (“the Sections of Road”).
  2. Nothing in Article 1 of this Order shall render it unlawful for a person to cause a vehicle to proceed or wait in the Sections of Road specified, subject to the safe progress of the Event, if the vehicle is being used:
    1. for the purposes of police, fire or ambulance services;
    2. in connection with road or utility works in or adjacent to the road;
    3. for access to premises in or adjacent to the road;
    4. by an authorised official responsible for the safety of the event.
  3. This Order may be cited as the Oxfordshire County Council (Goring 10K Road Race) (Special Event) Order 2026 and shall have effect on the 8th day of March 2026.
