Central permit area workplace parking users
What you need to know
The free central permit area workplace parking users permit allows users to travel through the congestion charging locations during charging hours.
The workplace parking permit only covers the vehicle when travelling to and from your workplace parking.
- you are limited to 1 permit
- you can have up to 3 cars on your permit, but you can only use one car per day
- your permit only covers the car set as active in your account at the end of the day (23:59)
- if you travel through a congestion charge location in a car not set as active without paying, you may receive a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN)
How long your permit lasts
Your permit will be valid for 12 months.
You cannot use your permit until we confirm that we have approved your application. Your permit will not be available to use until the scheme begins.
Who can get a central area workplace parking permit
To qualify:
- you must work at premises occupied by your employer in the central permit area
- you must regularly commute to car parking (other than excluded car parking) in the central permit area
- you or someone you live with must be the registered keeper of the car(s) on your application
- the car(s) on your application must be registered at your home address
Excluded car parking
The following city centre car parks are excluded unless your employer has a specific arrangement with the car park owner for you to use the car park for workplace parking.
- all on-street parking
- Westgate public car park
- Oxpens public car park
- Worcester Street public car park
- Oxford rail station long stay car park
What you need to get a central area workplace parking permit
You must provide the following evidence to support your application:
- a letter or email dated within the last 12 months from your employer confirming:
- that they occupy premises in the central permit area
- that you work at premises in the central permit area
- that you regularly commute to car parking (other than excluded car parking) in the central permit area
- the V5C (logbook) of each car on your application, showing that:
- you or someone you live with is the registered keeper
- the car is registered at your home address
