Working with light in photography
About the Workshop
Managing light is the essence of taking good photographs. In this workshop we will be working with natural or ambient light sources and with a continuous light source. The course will give you the confidence to select the best light for your subject and the confidence to work with natural light, ambient light and introduced light.
Requirements for the Workshop
You should ideally have a bridge or DSLR camera and a tripod. You should be familiar with your camera settings. You may be able to download a copy of your camera manual if you do not have one. We will be working in the camera’s manual setting which gives the ability to change aperture, speed or time and ISO settings. A standard lens will be fine. We can work with a mobile phone but please familiarise yourself with the camera settings and ensure you have enough battery charge.
Equipment
Tripod, enough battery, SD card, Devise to hold mobile phone and attach to tripod (check attachment).
Additionally for mobile phones; there are 3 apps to allow your phone to be used more like a camera, REEFLEX and REXPOSE have camera settings and REEHELD allows you to take long exposures. Reeflex would be the most useful for this workshop and this app also allows specialist lenses to be used on your phone.
About the Tutor – Cereta Drewett
With an Art degree, I have been teaching art and photography in secondary school for over 25 years but now I am retired and able to indulge fully my passion in photography.
Digital cameras, mobile phones and computer processing make photography more accessible to everyone these days. My aim for my courses to provide enough knowledge to enable you to bring insight and creativity into your photography taking it to a level above the usual. I am hoping that I can encourage a few more people to become engrossed in the delights of photography.
