Early Education Funding (EEF) for 2, 3 and 4 year olds

Information for providers of 2-4 year olds.

Some 2 year olds are eligible for 570 hours

All 3 to 4-year-olds in Oxfordshire are eligible for the universal 570 hours free early education.

Some 3 and 4 year old children of working parents may also be eligible for the extended 570 hours for

Eligible children can take up a place from the term following their relevant birthday.

1 September - 31 December Term 2 - January
1 January - 31 March Term 3 - April

Funding agreement

The Early Education Funding Terms and Conditions. September 2017 - March 2018 (pdf format, 711Kb) sets out the rights and responsibilities of the council and providers in receipt of 2, 3 and 4 year old funding. 

Hourly rate

The hourly funding rate from April 2017 will be £4.01 for 3 and 4 year olds and £5.52 for eligible 2 year olds.

3 and 4 year old children may also be eligible for additional Early Years Pupil Premium funding.

Stretched entitlement

Providers have typically offered funded hours for 38 weeks (term time).  Funded hours can, however, be stretched across the year.
