Funding to support this new approach was approved as part of the council's budget-setting process. We will fund a sign and line-only change with any additional engineering measures requiring third-party funding.

Emergency vehicles

All vehicles answering emergency calls will be exempt from the speed limit.

Oxfordshire pilots

We have carried out pilots in five areas to find out the impact of a simple change of road sign from 30mph to 20mph and the impact of different types of traffic management measures.

The pilot schemes have now been completed and we are monitoring the impact on speed that the amendments have had.  We aim to release some of the findings in winter 2022.  Organisations can still apply for a 20mph restriction apply/register an interest.
