Buying instruments
How to get help with buying musical instruments.
Assisted instrument purchase
Music students in Oxfordshire can buy new instruments with no VAT through a scheme approved by HM Revenue and Customs. The nationwide scheme is not-for-profit and runs through schools and local authority music services.
Pupils who receive musical education through the Music Service
Oxfordshire's Music Service oversees this assisted instrument purchase scheme in the county. The scheme applies to pupils who:
- attend ensembles or receive musical tuition through the Music Service as part of their music education
- intend to continue for at least a further two terms.
Pupils who receive musical education through their school
Pupils must approach their schools if they wish to take advantage of the scheme.
