It's not worth the risk

Be alert, drive sensibly, safely and share the risk.

Did you know that over 90 per cent of collisions are due to human error?

Causes of fatal collisions

In the UK, the six leading causes of fatality in collisions are:

  1. speeding
  2. driving under the effect of either alcohol or drugs
  3. not wearing a seatbelt
  4. using a mobile phone
  5. driving tired
  6. driving too close to the vehicle in front

Of those fatalities, 86 per cent are men, mostly between the ages of 17 and 34. But we all need to consider the risks.

West Midlands Police posted this video showing four motorists who put themselves and others at risk.

On these pages, we'll explain what you can do to reduce the risk the next time you start the engine.

Cars don't just crash; drivers cause collisions.

Be alert. Drive sensibly and safely from the moment you turn the ignition key.
