Our response to the Buckinghamshire Local Plan consultation
We have asked Buckinghamshire Council to work more closely with us on the effects of planned development near the Oxfordshire border.

Our main concerns
We welcome the opportunity to comment on the Buckinghamshire Local Plan. We want more detailed cross-border working between Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire.
This work should include the effects of development on education and transport. This is important because several proposed developments are close to the county border.
Our response asks Buckinghamshire Council to:
- involve us early when developments could affect Oxfordshire
- assess and reduce cross-border education and transport effects
- include appropriate measures in its Infrastructure Delivery Plan
- assess walking, wheeling, cycling, public transport and road travel
Transport modelling
We are concerned that the transport modelling does not test the plan as it is written. Instead, it tests a higher-growth scenario that contains more development than the proposed plan.
The modelling also does not show the effects on Oxfordshire. Several proposed developments are near the county border, so we expect some journeys and transport effects to cross into Oxfordshire.
Walking, cycling and public rights of way
We welcome the proposed greenway links between Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire.
We also support protecting public rights of way on both sides of the county border.
