In the Medieval period, seals were used to either seal or authenticate documents. Seals give us a glimpse of the people behind the documents and correspondence. Our Curator of Archaeology, Angie Bolton, will discuss seal matrices (the object that creates the impression in a wax seal) in the museum's collection and those recorded by the Oxfordshire Portable Antiquities Scheme.
