Open Art Competition 2026

A bright pink background with gold detail and a decorative scroll that shows the dates 1952 and 1917. At the top in a small scroll it says Tim's telescopic view of and the larger scroll beneath reads to celebrate her majesty's silver jubilee and in the centre is a picture of a royal carriage. On each side of the scroll are regal trumpeters.

Call for submissions

Inspired by the Museum service collection and the Oxfordshire Museum's 60th Anniversary year, this year’s theme for the Oxfordshire Museum Open Art Competition will be ‘celebration’. 

You may have created something already that you feel fits this theme perfectly or you may wish to take your inspiration from many of the items in the Museum services collection.

  • only open to Oxfordshire residents
  • open to anyone aged 11 years and older
  • accepts most media types
  • must meet the theme of 'celebration'
  • must tell us how your artwork meets the theme
  • maximum 3 entries per person

All entries will be considered, and a shortlisted will be selected for display.

There is an overall prize, a prize for best amateur, a prize for best under 18 submission and the people’s choice award.
