Friends of the Oxfordshire Museum Children's Creative Writing Competition 2025

A snake wound around itself made from stamps with a leather tongue and eyes drawn on the head part.

The Friends of the Oxfordshire Museum are delighted to announce their first ever Children's creative Writing Competition.

We know we have some very talented and hard-working young people living near the Museum. This competition is an opportunity for you to share your creative writing skills. The competition is open to all young people between the ages of 7 and 11 who live within 10 miles of The Oxfordshire Museum in Woodstock. Your writing should also include a drawing or illustration of the object that your story is focusing on. The best pieces will be selected to be judged by our expert judging panel and one piece will be selected as overall winner.

The person who has created this piece will be awarded a prize of £50 in cash and have their name engraved upon a trophy.

The prizes will be awarded at a ceremony at 4pm on 11 July in the Museum Garden or Coach House depending on the weather.

To enter, request a form from oxfordshire.museum@oxfordshire.gov.uk or pick up one from the reception desk of the Museum.

When completed, return the form to the museum or via email to the above email address by 9am, Friday 23 May.

All entries will be considered.
