Carterton Library: River at War by Bill King local Historian

Bill King a local historian will give a talk on the River Thames which has been throughout history, a strategic feature providing a transport artery but also an obstacle to movement between north and south. In WW2 the river and its hinterland played a key strategic role in the defence of the country. This talk looks at how the river served as a major defensive feature and how the industries along the Thames were adapted to serve the war effort.
