Have A Go Day

Rewley Road Fire Station will be opening its bay doors to the public as part of the annual Oxford Open Doors event:

• On 12 and 13 September, historic buildings and businesses across Oxford City will open their doors to the public, offering a variety of tours and activities for all the family.

Join us here at Rewley Road:

• Meet our friendly firefighters who can answer questions and talk you through what they do when they’re not saving cats or extinguishing fires.
• Take a look around a fully operational fire station, see our big red fire engines and what equipment they have hidden away in their lockers.
• For more information on the Oxford Open Doors event, including what other venues and activities are taking place

• Entry to the station is free, but charity donations are always welcome.

Fire Station Open Doors – On Call Recruitment

Discover what it takes to be an on-call firefighter

Our Fire Station Open Doors events give you the opportunity to visit your local fire station, meet firefighters, and learn more about this rewarding role within Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service.

Whether you're actively considering applying or simply want to find out more, our crews will be on hand to answer your questions and provide an insight into life as an on-call firefighter.

What you'll learn about

During your visit, you'll have the chance to find out more about:

• The role of an on-call firefighter
• The types of incidents firefighters attend
• Availability requirements and responding from home or work
• Training commitments and ongoing development opportunities
• Fitness expectations
• The recruitment and application process
• Balancing firefighting alongside work, family and other commitments

No appointment needed

Simply turn up at your local participating fire station between 7pm and 9pm.

Open Doors - first Tuesday of every month
