Fire service recruitment

Get a taste of firefighting

Oxfordshire County Council Fire and Rescue Service is holding a number of ‘Taster Days’ for people who are interested in becoming an on call firefighter.

There will be a talk about the recruitment process and the role of ‘On-call’ and then a look around the equipment as well as a go with some of the kit such as the fire equipment on the appliance, cutting equipment, breathing apparatus, ladders, and water rescue equipment.

Anyone is welcome to come along.

To become an on call firefighter you must live or work within five minutes of your local fire station and will have to pass a series of selection tests.

Those selected will be paid a standby rate for being available when they are on call plus an hourly rate for attending incidents, training and other duties.
