Recruitment of staff

Information about recruiting staff and volunteers for your childcare setting.

Safer recruitment

All organisations in England that work with or provide services for children and families have a duty to protect their welfare. Staff and volunteers must be recruited following 'safer recruitment' procedures, to ensure, as far as possible, that they are suitable to work with children. Ofsted inspectors look for evidence of this. Free training and other materials are available on the OSCB website.

This training will help voluntary management committees and independent childcare providers learn how to recruit safely and correctly.

The Safer Recruitment poster can be used to promote the 12 steps to safer recruitment. It can be printed off in A3 or A4 size.
