Safer recruitment

All organisations in England that work with, or provide services, for children and families have a duty to protect their welfare. Staff and volunteers must be recruited following 'safer recruitment' procedures, to ensure, as far as possible, that they are suitable to work with children.

Ofsted inspectors look for evidence of this. You can find out more about Safer Recruitment training on the OSCB webpage. Early Years Providers and childminders who recruit assistants can also book Safer Recruitment training directly through Step into Training.

This training will help voluntary management committees and independent childcare providers learn how to recruit safely and correctly.
