Open Art Exhibition 2026
‘Celebration’
Inspired by the collections kept by the Oxfordshire Museum Service and as part of the Museum’s 60th Anniversary celebrations this year’s theme is ‘Celebration’.
Come and join us for our fourth annual open art competition exhibition. The call out went out across Oxfordshire, inviting all residents 11 years and older to contribute an artwork. This year’s entries were varied, considered the theme creatively and were presented in a variety of materials and mediums.
The result is wonderfully eclectic. The array of works on displays this year speaks to the fact that some people see celebrations as personal, others as shared and some also see them as a way to celebrate nature and creativity as well as human connections. Many different mediums are used from textiles to digital, and sculpture to photography. All are to be found in this fascinating exhibition that explores the many ways in which we celebrate.
After exploring the exhibition and these wonderful artworks you will be able to vote for your favourite in our people’s choice award. We hope you may even feel inspired to make a submission of your own in 2027!
