Apply for a School Street exemption
If you are eligible, you can apply for an exemption from School Street restrictions.
You must apply for an exemption before driving into a School Street
Due to minor delays in the ANPR procurement process, we will start the Phase 3 School Streets trial a little later than originally planned. The scheduled date for the trial start is now Wednesday 2 September 2026.
A letter will be sent to affected residents to help them register appropriate exemptions. We will give residents at least four weeks’ notice before the school street trial starts. Please note that exemption applications cannot be accepted for Phase 3 schools until letters have been sent to these addresses.
Note that Phase 1 and 2 school streets arrangements remain in place, and affected residents can continue to apply for an exemption for an existing school street at any time.
