Archives Cards for viewing unique material

You need an Archives Card in order to view original archive documents from our strongrooms. Using your Archives Card ensures we know who has what material in the searchroom

You don't need an Archives Card to consult local studies material from the strongrooms, to consult self-service material in our searchroom, or to use online resources.

How to get an Archives Card

You will need to register for a free Archives Card online before you visit the Oxfordshire History Centre. Bring the required ID and documents for checking on the day of your visit, and we will finalise your registration and issue you with your card. 

CARN tickets

You can no longer use a CARN readers ticket. This has been replaced by the Archives Card.
