Woodstock, a picturesque, traditional English Country market town, was founded in 1163 and is known as “The Gateway to the Cotswolds”. It epitomises the charm, beauty and romance of such historic settlements and has a character all of its own. Blenheim Palace is situated close by and the town is only 8 miles north of the City of Oxford.

Woodstock Town Hall is a beautiful grade II listed building situated in the very heart of the town. It was built in 1766 and designed by the famous architect Sir William Chambers RA who also designed Somerset House in London, The Pagoda in Kew Gardens and parts of Blenheim Palace.

This major landmark has two beautiful rooms that are licenced for weddings - The Mayor's Parlour and The Assembly Room.

The Mayor’s Parlour is a traditional setting that is particularly popular with smaller wedding parties. The room is lit by a chandelier and contains antique wooden furniture. Its walls are lined with paintings and other historical items of interest. The doors of the Mayor’s Parlour open straight onto the Market Place which make it a lovely setting for photographs.

The Assembly Room upstairs, is a large, elegant room that features three impressive chandeliers and a series of very fine hand stitched tapestries that depict the town’s history.

The flexible layout of this historic building make it an attractive option to couples who wish to get married in the Mayor's Parlour and then hold their wedding reception in the Assembly Room.

External caterers are often employed by people holding events in the Town Hall as there is a large kitchen adjoining the Assembly Room.

There is wheelchair access to the Town Hall via a ramp from the Market Square and a stair lift to the upper floors.

The traditional layout of the building and fire regulations mean that we can only accommodate 60 people at any one time.
