About visitor parking permits

Residential parking schemes exist to protect residents from commuter parking and provide priority over the limited number of street spaces available.

As there is little off-street parking in many Controlled Parking Zones, residents and visitors may compete for on-street parking with approximately one space available per house frontage.

The introduction of year-dates to the life expectancy of visitor permits prevents non-eligible persons from obtaining and misusing or selling permits when a resident leaves an address.

Visitor permits are now virtual by default. In order to provide fair service, each resident is limited to 50 visitors permits per year, with each permit being valid from 24 hours of activation. No additional permits can be purchased once the annual allocation is used.

Who can apply

Any resident of an eligible property may apply for visitors' parking permits providing they are aged 17 years or over. They are issued in sets of 25 single use (one day) passes.

Check your property's eligibility

Before committing to a contract with a letting agency and/or landlord, contact us to confirm that the property is eligible for a visitor and/or residential parking permits.

Costs and payment

You can apply for one free set of permits every 12 months. If you require more, you need to wait six months after your first application. A second set of visitor parking permits will cost £31.50, with the exception of Woodstock, where residents will pay £25.

You will not be asked to pay until we have processed your application.

If you are aged 70 years or above, you will not have to pay for your second set. If you hold a valid Oxfordshire County Council concessionary bus pass, we can check your age with your permission, but you will otherwise need to provide proof of age.
