Oxfordshire Schools’ Wind Orchestra
For players grade 2+ standard who play woodwind, brass, or percussion instruments
The wind orchestra will explore a range of repertoire with highly experienced tutors who are keen to encourage and help your child to improve their sight-reading and ensemble skills in a fun and supportive environment. This is a new ensemble for 2026-7 to help offer more opportunity to play with a group of wind and brass players. Repertoire will be a range from famous classics such as Dvorak's New World Symphony to film themes like Star Wars and Frozen.
Children who participate in groups such as this develop not only their playing ability but also their sense of confidence and achievement. In time they will be able to progress to our next level county ensembles of Oxfordshire Schools' Symphony Orchestra (OSSO) or Oxfordshire Youth Wind Orchestra (OYWO). From there they can then progress further into Oxfordshire County Youth Orchestra (OCYO), which tours in Europe, as well as performing in Symphony Hall Birmingham and the Royal Albert Hall in London.
We are excited to offer this new ensemble and look forward to welcoming your child.
