Abingdon, Guildhall
One of our approved venues for marriages and other civil ceremonies
The Guildhall in Abingdon is located within the historic grounds of the Abbey on the banks of the River Thames. It offers a range of wonderful rooms steeped in history, providing the perfect setting for your wedding day.
The Roysse Room, dating back to 1440, has a beautifully ornate barrel ceiling.
The Council Chamber, panelled with Spanish oak, is the room where HRH Queen Elizabeth II dined under the stunning commemorative chandeliers during one of her visits.
The smaller, more intimate Bear Room features a fine example of a Palladian window (considered the best in the country).
In addition, we have two more function rooms, the Abbey room over the Abbey Archway and the Magistrates Court, originally part of St John’s hospital.
Wedding reception packages range from drinks and canapes to full wedding breakfasts. Please contact us to arrange a visit. One of our friendly staff will be happy to show you around and answer your questions.
