Hearse or funeral car
What you need to know
The free hearse or funeral car permit allows unlimited travel through all six congestion charging locations during charging hours.
- you are limited to 1 permit
- there is no limit to the number of cars on your permit
- the permit must not be used for private travel
- the permit must not be used for commuting on days when you don’t expect to make any journeys for funeral purposes
How long your permit lasts
Your permit will be valid for 12 months.
You cannot use your permit until we confirm that we have approved your application. Your permit will not be available to use until the scheme begins.
Who can get a hearse or funeral car permit
To qualify:
- you must be a funeral care business
- your business must be the registered keeper of the hearse(s) and/or funeral car(s) on your application
- the hearse(s) and/or funeral car(s) on your application must be used solely or primarily for funeral purposes
What you need to get a hearse or funeral car permit
You must provide the following evidence to support your application:
- evidence that you are a funeral care business, such as industry accreditation
- the V5C (logbook) of each hearse(s) and/or funeral car on the application, showing that the funeral care business is the registered keeper
