Terms and conditions for household waste recycling centre bookings

Household bookings (including DIY)

  • Bookings can be made by both Oxfordshire and non-Oxfordshire residents.
  • Bookings will only be issued to householders who intend to deposit their own waste.
  • Certain vehicles may require a permit, and you may be prompted via the booking process to apply for one. Permits are for Oxfordshire residents only.
  • You will need to select the type of waste you are bringing and will be advised to sort your recycling before arrival. Oxfordshire County Council have also provided sorting stations at the HWRCs to aid you to sort your recycling during your visit.
  • You will need to bring proof of address when you visit, such as a driving licence, utility bill or council tax bill.
  • You may be asked to confirm your booking reference number.
  • The booking is only valid for the selected HWRC, on your selected date and time.
  • The booking is only valid for the vehicle registration on the booking confirmation.
  • Non-Oxfordshire residents will be charged £15 per entry.
  • Non-Oxfordshire residents will be charged for any small personal amount of DIY waste they bring and do not receive a free allowance.
  • Oxfordshire County Council reserves the right to cancel bookings or amend the operation of the HWRC booking scheme at any time.
  • The date and time of your booking can be amended or cancelled by using the link in your confirmation email.
  • If you have a van or trailer permit and you do not cancel your booking, a visit will still be deducted.

DIY specific

  • Only Oxfordshire residents are entitled to deposit DIY waste as part a their free allowance every 7 days. DIY waste deposited over this free allowance will be charged accordingly.
  • Non-Oxfordshire residents are able to deposit a small personal amount of DIY waste, and they will be charged accordingly.
  • The selected DIY waste type on your booking is only valid for that visit on your selected date and time  If you are bringing more than the free allowance you will be charged accordingly.
  • The selected DIY waste type on your booking is only valid for the selected HWRC in Oxfordshire.
  • If you have booked a visit with the intention of depositing DIY waste and do not attend or cancel, the visit will be recorded as if you have used your free allowance.
  • If you visit the HWRC network more than once within the 7 days, any additional DIY Waste will be chargeable.

One booking per address and vehicle

A household may be granted only one booking at a time within 7 days.

Asbestos bookings (Oxfordshire household only) 

  • Asbestos does not fall under your free allowance of DIY waste, and the relevant charges are applicable.
  • Asbestos bookings are for Oxfordshire residents only. Maximum of 3 per year.
  • An asbestos booking is valid for the 1 visit only on your selected date and time of booking.
  • An asbestos booking is only valid for the selected HWRC in Oxfordshire.
  • Oxfordshire County Council allows charities with an authorised permit to deposit donated household items they have been unable to sell or reuse.
  • Charities are not permitted to dispose of DIY waste or waste generated from their operation.

Charity bookings (Oxfordshire household only) 

  • Oxfordshire County Council allows charities with an authorised permit to deposit donated household items they have been unable to sell or reuse.
  • Charities are not permitted to dispose of DIY waste or waste generated from their operation.
