Heat Pump Ready Programme

Oxfordshire hosted two of the four UK pilot schemes to test how air source heat pumps could be rolled out more widely.

The Department for Energy Security and Net Zero funded the projects through the Heat Pump Ready Programme.

Where the trials took place

The two projects were:

  • Home Efficiency Hub in the Greenwood and Highfield area of north Bicester
  • Clean Heat Streets in parts of Rose Hill and Iffley in Oxford

What Clean Heat Streets delivered

Through Clean Heat Streets, residents received discounted air source heat pumps and support during installation.

The project installed heat pumps in 31 homes. This helped residents replace gas boilers with a low carbon heating system.

The project also replaced gas cookers and ovens with electric versions. This meant some homes could be removed from the gas network.

As a result, households can save money on gas standing charges and improve indoor air quality.
