This is the government’s flagship grant scheme to kick-start the transition to clean heat via heat pumps to replace your boiler.
Through the help of the Boiler Upgrade Scheme, you could get a grant to cover part of the cost of replacing a fossil fuel heating system with a renewable heating system.
Current grants are available for:
- £7,500 towards an air source heat pump (sometimes called an air-to-water heat pump)
- £7,500 towards a ground source heat pump (including water source heat pumps and those on shared ground loops)
- £5,000 towards a biomass boiler
- £2,500 towards an air-to-air heat pump (capable of both heating and cooling your home)
To be eligible for a grant you must:
- own the property that you’re applying for and
- be replacing a fossil fuel heating system, such as oil, gas, coal or LPG
Only Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) registered installers can access this scheme.
How to apply:
- Contact suitable MCS certified installers.
- Confirm you’re eligible (your installer will tell you).
- Agree a quote with your chosen installer.
- Your installer will apply on your behalf through Ofgem. Ofgem will then contact you to confirm the installer is acting on your behalf.
