M40 Junction 10 Padbury roundabout improvements

A project designed to increase the capacity of the A43 Padbury roundabout.

Why we invested here

The scheme upgraded the A43 Padbury roundabout to improve the slip road's safety and capacity. It also prepared the junction for planned housing development in the area.

The work involved:

  • widening the existing nearside M40 Junction 10 southbound off slip on the immediate approach to the roundabout to accommodate three running lanes
  • and changing the junction to have all approaches controlled by smart traffic signals.

The finished work will:

  • improve traffic flow in the local area and help the wider road network to meet current and future demands
  • reduce congestion and pollution around Junction 10
  • improve road safety at the junction
  • and reduce journey times.

Timescales

We started construction in the summer of 2024 and finished in September 2025.

How it was funded

The project was funded by Housing and Growth Deal funding with National Highways delivering the work on behalf of Oxfordshire County Council.
