Oxfordshire Intermediate Orchestra (OIO)

Oxfordshire Intermediate Orchestra for players grade 2 - 4+ standard

The orchestra will explore a range of repertoire with highly experienced tutors who are keen to encourage and support your child in improving their sight-reading and ensemble skills in a fun and supportive environment. In previous years, music has included Disney favourites, famous classics such as Dvorak's New World Symphony, film themes like Star Wars and Harry Potter, and a commissioned piece written especially for OIO! These were performed in a fantastic end-of-year concert alongside the county's top orchestras at the prestigious Dorchester Abbey.

OIO have also performed at St Edward's School, Oxford, alongside other county-level ensembles in a grand end of year Gala Concert. We hope to do something similar next year to showcase the fantastic talent we have in Oxfordshire together in our 100 strong orchestra!

Children who participated this year grew in ability, confidence and sense of achievement, which really encouraged their own private practice and inspired them to continue their musical journey. Many have now progressed to our next level county orchestra (OSSO), which is wonderful to see them move forward within our Service.

From there they can then progress further into OCYO, which tours in Europe, as well as performing in Symphony Hall Birmingham and the Royal Albert Hall in London. OIO is the first county level step on your child's journey towards these fantastic higher-level opportunities.

We look forward to welcoming back returning members and new players, ready to enjoy playing fun music in a friendly, sociable setting.
