What are family hubs?

Raising a family can be rewarding, but it can also come with challenges. In Oxfordshire, Best Start Family Hubs are here to help you find the right support, at the right time, in a way that works for you.

Family hubs bring services together so you don't need to know who to ask first. They are designed around families – helping you get the support you need, when you need it.

It's normal to have questions, worries or times when you need extra support. At your family hub, you can get practical support, find information and answers, meet other parents and find someone to talk to.

Family hubs are open to all families, from pregnancy through to early years and beyond.

Visit our family hub at Cuddesdon Corner (Blackbird Leys).

How family hubs work in Oxfordshire

Rather than needing to contact lots of different services, family hubs help connect you to the right people and support, whatever that may be.

  • health services, such as health visiting
  • early years and childcare services
  • family support and parenting programmes
  • community and voluntary organisations

Support you can get

Support will look different for every family, but family hubs can help with things like:

  • your child's health and development
  • parenting advice and guidance
  • preparing for school
  • family wellbeing and routines
  • connecting with local groups and activities

You can access support face-to-face, online or through local services.

Working alongside you

Oxfordshire's family hubs are built around working with families, not just for them.

This means we will:

  • listen to what matters to you
  • work together to find solutions
  • build on your strengths as a parent or carer
  • support you to feel confident as your child grows
