How to be registered disabled

The disabled register scheme is no longer active.

We have taken the decision to close the scheme because we now use a number of automatic verification processes, available through organisations like the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) as well as records for certain state benefits.

This allows us to cross-check residents’ applications when they apply for blue badges, concessionary bus passes and council tax services.

These developments now mean there is no benefit to you as an individual to apply for or have a card from the disabled register.

We remain committed to supporting our disabled residents and improving our services to make them easier to access.

If you have a pending application, our team will contact you in writing to confirm the closure of the scheme.
