Special schools and specialist resources bases
Information for parents applying for a place in a special school or specialist resource base
If you wish your child to be considered for a place at a local maintained special school or specialist resource base this should normally be discussed at the annual review of their education, health and care plan (EHCP).
A visit to the school could be arranged directly with the school. All pupils who attend a special school or resource base are legally required to have an education, health and care plan or be undergoing a statutory assessment.
You cannot apply for a special school online.
If you have any questions about special school placements please discuss them with:
- the SENCO in your child's current placement
- the Early Years SEN team for your area
- the SEN Casework Team for your area
- SENDIASS SEN and Disability Information Advice and Support Service.
