It was set up to support the museum to display the culture and heritage of the county.
Over those years it has raised funds to contribute to the cost of the physical development of the buildings and displays to ensure that this is a museum fit for the 21st century.
The Friends finance temporary exhibitions and family learning programs, and in addition conduct appeals for money to purchase items for the museum's collections. Friends enjoy many benefits including monthly lectures and regular outings.
- Individual membership is £15
- Dual membership (two adults at the same address): £25
Subscriptions are payable annually on 1 April.
Patrons and benefactors
If you would like to become a patron or benefactor you may do so by making the following minimum annual donation:
- Individual patron: £50
- Individual benefactor: £100
- Corporate benefactor: £250
As well as membership of the Friends, patrons and benefactors also enjoy:
- invitations to private views and special events at the Museum
- acknowledgement in the annual report.
