Space Chase: Summer Reading Challenge 2019

This year's Library Children's Summer Reading Challenge

Launches in libraries Saturday 13 July until Saturday 14 September

The theme for the 2019 Summer Reading Challenge is ‘Space Chase’, inspired by the 50th anniversary of the moon landing.

Children will join a special mission across space to help the super space family called The Rockets find books stolen by mischievous aliens. As children read library books for the Summer Reading Challenge, they will receive special stickers for their colourful collector’s folder. Once they complete the challenge they’ll get their own medal and certificate.

Read six books of your choice

To take part in Space Chase, all children need to do is sign up at their nearest library where they will be given a folder to keep a record of their Summer Reading Challenge mission.

There’s a whole programme of events and activities planned at Oxfordshire libraries for families over the summer to celebrate the Summer Reading Challenge.

Check details of all the events happening in Oxfordshire Libraries this summer. It promises to be a busy time of author talks, crafting sessions, games, activities, and competitions. There will be a website to add to the fun too. Watch this space.

All the family

Adults and young adults can get involved too. Look out for the ‘Oxfordshire Reads’ postcards in all libraries to enter this summer’s competition for great prizes.
