Where else to look when researching family history

Help is available from the Oxfordshire Family History Society.

Oxfordshire Family History Society

Oxfordshire Family History Society offers access to the Oxfordshire and North Berkshire indexes and digitised images of Oxfordshire parish registers, through its search suite, available on public computers at Oxfordshire History Centre.

It also offers a volunteer family history help desk at the History Centre, where you can spend time discussing your research problems.

Your local library

You may find that one of your ancestors has already caught someone's attention - whether as a High Sheriff or a highwayman.

The National Archives (TNA)

The National Archives will give access to other types of record, for example, those for the military, the workers, the migrants and so on. There is also information about adoption and divorce records.
