Weddings or civil partnerships in approved venues

How to organise a marriage or civil partnership at one of our approved venues.

Instead of having your ceremony in a registration office, you could opt to hold it in one of the many diverse approved venues throughout Oxfordshire, from an old Cotswold hotel or a famous city centre museum to an Oxford College. If you choose this option, you can have your ceremony and celebration in the same place.

Registrars are happy to attend marriages and civil partnership ceremonies at approved venues on any day, including Sundays and bank holidays (excluding Christmas Day).

Booking a venue

If the venue is in Oxfordshire you should contact the Registration Service helpdesk and ask them to check that registrars will be available on that day and at the time you require.

When you have chosen an approved venue for your marriage/civil partnership, please make a provisional booking with the venue before you give your legal Notices of marriage / civil partnership.

Warning It is essential that you agree a date and time with the helpdesk and the venue before making any other arrangements.

How much will it cost?

The venue will give you details of their charges. Our registration fees include the cost of one marriage certificate/civil partnership certificate.

What to do next

After booking with the venue and the helpdesk, you will both need to give your Notices of marriage/civil partnership.
