Enjoyable, quirky, and informative.

If you are interested in history or creative arts Juxtaposition offers a new perspective. The free exhibition brings objects from our prestigious modern crafts collection to meet their historic counterparts.

Enjoy the superb craftsmanship and artistry of contemporary crafts. Contemplate the origins and synergies of similar historic items. Find the hidden secret of a bentwood chair and marvel at the beauty of intricate embroidery while you reminisce about past times.

Co-curated by local artist Anne Griffiths  the exhibition contains works from the prestigious Southern Arts Crafts contemporary collection and features work by artists such as Kate Malone, John Makepeace, Michael Brennand-Wood, and some of the Oxfordshire Craft Guild’s Fletcher Prize winners.

Objects from our historic collections were chosen to contrast with the contemporary items and bring their unique stories, whether personal, historical, or technological.

The exhibition will be on show at The Oxfordshire Museum until Sunday 9 October.
