"As the Director for Children’s Services, I’d like to tell you about the exciting times that lie ahead for anyone involved in children’s social care at Oxfordshire County Council.
We have recently been rated “good” by Ofsted for the third time running and are leading the way in tackling big national issues such as child sexual exploitation and providing for the needs of children in and on the edge of care.
In the recent past we delivered the roll-out of a brand new service to continue meeting the needs and aspirations of children at risk of abuse and neglect, and ensuring families in need of extra help are identified at an early stage.
I’m working with a hugely enthusiastic team as we integrate social care with early intervention work, creating a seamless service in which families get the right help at the right time. We’re also forging stronger links with our health and education partners to give children the best possible start in life.
But some things aren’t changing – like the supportive and stable working environment on offer for social workers here, as well as the many other reasons for experienced professionals to join our team.
I’m determined to improve outcomes for children while developing the skills of our workforce – because I know our dedicated staff are at the heart of everything we do."
