Business advice

Consumer law can be complex - we want to provide you with a service which meets your needs yet is cost effective and of high quality.

Trading Standards offers business advice on a variety of consumer laws including product safety (protective equipment, electric equipment, construction products), how to label your food products, website compliance (terms and conditions and other statutory information) and keeping livestock.

We have officers experienced in Trading Standards law, but have also work and knowledgeable officers who can answer your query efficiently and in a lot of cases, the first time. We will provide you with information that is understandable, not in legal jargon.

We also work closely with our colleagues at Fire and Rescue and we can put you in touch with them for advice on fire safety.

We offer free initial advice to signpost you the best sources of information. If you require more bespoke, tailored advice, we offer this at a competitive rate.

If you are looking for help on a more regular basis and require advice that can be relied on (assured advice), then a Primary Authority agreement may be better for you. Please refer to our fees and charges for current prices.
