Commitment to high standards

About the importance of high standards of conduct by county councillors.

Leader of the Council, Councillor Ian Hudspeth

A statement from the Leader of the Council, Councillor Ian Hudspeth about the importance of high standards of conduct by county councillors.

The people of Oxfordshire have the right to expect high standards of conduct from their elected county councillors. Immediately after each election, all county councillors sign up to a Code of Conduct and agree to follow 10 principles of public behaviour in their capacity as councillors.

We want you to have confidence that your county council is transparent in how decisions are made, about the standards of behaviour you can expect, and how to register your concerns if you think the behaviour of a councillor falls short of the code.

We take this very seriously and are committed to providing on going training and advice for all councillors.
